Internet Safety Tips

Moms, Dads, don’t fool yourselves; the Internet can be a dangerous place for your kids/teens.

Due to the anonymity offered by the Internet, kids and teens are at risk of being exposed to pornography, cyber bullying, predators, identity theft, drugs, bigotry, hatred, gambling, crime, terrorism, scams, and more. These dangers are real and closer than your front door. The statistics are staggering. For example, there are several hundred million pornographic web pages. You know the real world is full of peril but this new virtual world is no different, except for how fast you and your kids can fall prey and become entangled in the ugly side of human existence found on the Internet’s “dark side.”

Below you will find an Internet Safety Checklist to use  to  remind  your children that things on the Internet are not always what they appear to be. You will find many other safety tips, as well as rules of behavior. (You may freely copy and distribute as long as no changes are made to content.)

To print out as a single page in Adobe pdf format click here or the image below. I recommend you have it laminated and then taped to your computer table.

***In the sharks mouth is the word “Porn.” If you are not ready to explain its meaning to your younger children then just use a black marker to cover over it before laminating.***
